We had a wonderful time working with Casey and Jeff for their wedding at the Hollins House in Scotts Valley. Casey was full of ideas and she and her mom did a great job adding all sorts of personal touches to make their wedding unique. Green apples were a theme throughout the event, with apples serving as the placecards and piles of apples decorating the cocktail tables. A wedding fit for a princess

Last Sunday we did a wedding at the beautiful Cordevalle. The bride had us decorate her horse drawn carriage with flowers!

New Studio!!

We are so excited to tell everyone that our new studio is done! We are now located in downtown Los Gatos and the place turned out beautiful. Elizabeth and I have been working non stop picking paints, going to home depot, and just running around in general. We still have to unpack the boxes, get organized, and decorate but the place already feels like a second home. We are going to post some before and after shots so everyone can appreciate the transformation. Until then here is a sneak peek...

Here is a wedding we did at the beautiful Martinelli Center in Livermore last weekend. It was 100 degrees so we were all trying to beat the heat! The theme was based around the colors of hot pink and orange. The decor and flowers were very beautiful and perfect for a summer wedding.

Here are the centerpieces. I love the hot pink tablecloths and the letterpressed table numbers!

Wedding Cinematography: Link and Ngoc's Wedding

Link and Ngoc flew Still Motion wedding cinema and photography down from Toronto to capture their wedding and it was certainly worth the effort! They do amazing work that is true emotive art. We love this video because it shows Ngoc seeing her bouquet for the first time. Her reaction is why we do what we do! You'll also find a preview of their wedding day photos below.

Real Wedding: Link and Ngoc at Nestldown

Ngoc had a vision for a romantic and intimate dinner inside the cozy barn at Nestldown in Los Gatos. She wanted tall branches and an abundance of candlelight, in soft and romantic colors. Lani and I created lush centerpieces overflowing with orchids, hydrangea, roses and stock in creams green and blush pink, with dramatic manzanita branches reaching towards the ceiling and draped in candles. These are just a few shots I took during our setup, so we're anxious to see the professional photos from Still Motion with the sun down and all the candles lit!

For the Mission Santa Clara she requested something a little more modern in shades of white. We found these huge reversible vases that looked perfect on our glistening mirrored pedestals!

Real Wedding: Kate & Eaton at Testarossa Vineyards, Los Gatos

Lani and I had a lot of fun with this wedding! It was so refreshing to work with the first blooms of spring - tulips, ranunculus, lilac, peonies, hydrangea, and hyacinth. The studio smelled so wonderful! For Kate and Eaton's flowers we created a buttercream and apricot palette, which looked stunning against the green of the bridesmaids' dresses. The men wore simple clusters of boxwood, a family favorite from Eaton's home on the East Coast.

On a personal note, it was great to see Father Tony that day, my priest from Archbishop Mitty High School. I was busy tying ribbons on to the chair clusters when I looked up and saw him preparing for the ceremony. Too funny! The last time I saw him was graduation day Senior year. Time flies!

Real Wedding: Louisana & Ignacio at The Ranch Golf Club, San Jose

Louisana wanted a dramatic look of deep merlot and black against white. For her bouquet, we used wine mini callas, deep merlot dahlias, and black baccara roses. Cuffed in dark red ostrich feathers and studded with pearl and rhinestones it was a bold contrast against the white of her beautiful lace dress. The centerpieces were soaring arrangements of white dendrobium orchids and fluffy hydrangea. But the beauty of the flowers were nothing compared to the bride! She was so classic and timeless in her mantilla veil and low chignon. Thank you to Mark of Stagi Imagery for capturing all the details of her amazing wedding!

Branches & More Branches!

We've noticed an influx of requests for "branchy" centerpieces and other arrangements lately. From dainty dendrobium orchids hanging from manzanita, to phalenopsis blooms wired on curly willow, it makes quite a dramatic impression! I thought I'd post a few that we've received from brides, or stumbled upon online. If one of these is your fabulous designs, email me and I'll give you credit!

We're very excited to introduce our new blog! Lani and I look forward to discussing our latest and greatest weddings, as well as many other fun projects. We both love to endeavor upon anything artistic and creative - that's why floral design in so enjoyable for us. Not only do we get to work with the most beautiful blooms from around the globe, but we get to explore new and interesting ways with which to showcase these just-picked beauties! Because flowers are so fleeting, it makes them all that more special. And we know most brides would agree! There's nothing quite as rewarding as the grand smile we receive when presenting a bride with her very own bouquet on her wedding day. It becomes an integral part of many of the photographs, and thus, part of history! We hope you enjoy reading what we're up to this year, and feel free to leave us any questions or comments.

I thought it prudent to introduce ourselves also. Lani and I are not only business partners, but the best of friends as well. We met as art students at Santa Clara University and have been creating together ever since. We've had a blast helping in the plans and preparations of each other's weddings, and have grown our families at the same time, even. We both have adorable little boys who are each almost 2 years old, and we know they'll soon be inseparable. Already the boys love "smelling the roses" and have even dappled in floral design creations of their own.

Here is a cute photo of Lani bringing buckets brimming with roses to one of our weddings in Carmel.

And here I am wrapping up bridal party bouquets with some exquisite hand-died silk ribbon. We prefer the bouquets to drink water right up to the last minute, so I was preparing them during the reception setup at the Westin San Francisco before heading up to the bride's suite.

Notice we're always color-coordinating with our logo? Yes we're girly that way. Even our male assistants have our pink logo embroidered on their polos :o) Anyway, enjoy! --Elizabeth
